Nix the A/C?

When we walked in to our apartment from the fireworks on the 4th, it was 11pm. We get inside and it feels really hot, even hotter than outside. We look at the thermostat and it says 92 degrees! Definitely not okay! We have one person from Vermont and 3 people from Utah staying here, this is not going to go over well. And this is actually the 3rd time this had happened, yeah, I know tell me about it. We made a phone call to emergency maintenance (cause this is definitely an emergency in Florida) and they brought us up a floor unit, he said it should cool the whole apartment within the hour. WRONG! It basically worked as a fan, if you stood right in front of it you felt cool. Since this was a Saturday we had to wait until Monday to get it fixed (but it actually didn't end up getting fixed until Tuesday). So Sunday we come home and this is where Riker ends up passing out for his nap.

The big silver thing in the back of him is the floor unit. He was the only smart one in the house, that's for sure!

4th of July

We went to some friend's beach house. It was the first time Mileena had ever been to a real beach. She goes to Lake Champlain in Vermont and they call it a "beach" but definitely not the real thing! The beach we went to was a little bit calmer than some, there were hardly any waves and Riker could stand in almost all of it so he loves it too!

After the beach we went to Tom Brown Park for the fireworks, Riker wasn't too fond of those though.

Even Mileena, the northerner, loves boiled peanuts so HA!

Star-Spangled Banner

The Badhams are Here!

It seems like it's been a year since I've blogged, sorry if I have deprived you from my life! We've had TONS of visitors this last month, Mileena came June 23rd, my sister, Hannah, came June28th, and my parents came on July 3rd. It's been fun having everyone here and Riker is just loving all the attention!

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

June is one of the happiest months EVER! Because Mileena comes to visit us :) I love this little girl so much. Even though she's not that little anymore, she's 10! When I walked to the gate in the airport to pick her and saw her I was floored at how big she had gotten. She was so much older and she looks so much like Mitchell it's crazy. I haven't gotten a really good picture of them together yet but I will and you'll see what I mean.
Riker and I woke up at 6:45 and rode with a friend down to Orlando to pick Mileena up. The ride down wasn't bad at all, I was so excited to see Mileena I couldn't even stand it. Now the ride home was a totally different story, it seemed like it took a century. We were on the Florida Turnpike for longer than we were suppose to be and I probably spent $15 in tolls. Boo. Then there were hardly any restaurants, and since Mileena's flight came in at 1 we were eating lunch late to begin with. We didn't end up eating until 3. To the better part of the trip, the kids fell asleep in the back, then me and Tracy jammed out to Backstreet Boys, Donny Osmond, and Britney Spears. Good combo, huh?

Once we got home it felt like we never left. Except it was 90 degrees in our apartment (that's a whole other story though). We ordered a pizza, and went swimming, then it was time for Riker to go to bed. We did our whole routine and Mileena read him a story, she is an amazing reader! We sang "Wheels on the Bus" said prayers and kissed him good-night. Riker is infatuated with his Sissy, he follows her around everywhere and wants to do everything with her. She has been sharing her Littlest Pet Shops with him, which he loves. I hope this will be a good summer with her and hopefully we'll be able to see more of Mileena this year!

Happy Father's Day!!

I thought today would be a great Father's Day because last night before we put Riker to bed I practiced with him saying "Happy Father's Day, Daddy!" He was actually pretty good at it. But since we had to wake him up this morning he wasn't to thrilled about saying it, and he wasn't thrilled about giving Mitchell his present either. I basically had to force him to give him the present and no Happy Father's Day came out of those cute little lips. But right before we left for church he ran up to me and gave me a HUGE hug and said "Happy Father's Day!" Haha! What a little stinker! I tried to get him to say it to Mitchell after that but he still wouldn't give in. Finally he said it after church because I threatened to turn Aladdin off (you gotta brib them these days).

I skipped a small little detail that happened at church today. Mitchell was called as 1st Counselor in the Elder's Quorum Presidency! Yep, and people thought he wouldn't come back to church 4 years ago. Take a look at him now!! I'm so proud of him!

Happy Father's Day Baby!

There's a First for Everything

Riker got his first...

Black Eye!

Such a sad boy. One minute I was watching him run around in circles, next he lost his footing and toppled over. Eye first into a cabinet handle.

At least his Daddy gave him the brownie batter to make him feel better.

Doesn't make it any better that he is terrified of band aids. It was a fight to get that Diego band aid on.

My Turn.

Since Mitchell has gone to the hospital so often this past month my body figured it was my turn. On Sunday I started getting a pain my lower back, right near my tailbone. I thought maybe it had been bruised by my reckless little boy who uses me as a wrestling buddy when I'm not looking. But it never went away, and it got to the point that I couldn't sit down at all. It was getting red and swollen, I know gross. I was going to head to the doctor this morning but by 3 am last night I couldn't take it anymore. Mitchell drive me to the hospital, I found out it was a cyst. It came from a hair follicle that got infected. The FSU intern that was going to do the procedure told me it wasn't going to be pain-free. And boy was she right :( But I'm just happy it's out and I can somewhat sit down now.

So Mitchell and I switched places, and now he's taking care of me. Will this ever end!

Overdue

Mitchell and I have been well overdue for some new bedding, and as I was browsing the Sunday paper for my coupons -Don't hate, just because I'm 21 doesn't mean I'm too young to be a coupon clipper :)- I found a Target ad. Now I love me some Target already, before Mitchell went into the hospital Riker and I would go there once a week just to check out all the new stuff.

Anyway, in this Target ad there is some bedding on sale-a comforter, bed skirt, sheets, 2 pillowcases, and 2 bed shams (aka pillowcases). for $34, I know right, who could pass this up especially us who so desperately need some. Well, as you all now Mitchell has been out of work for a month and because of this I was hoping and praying the sale lasted 2 weeks. Then I could go get this bedding after he went back to work, but of course it ended Saturday. So I quickly tried to push such a good deal out of my mind.

BUT...

When I checked the mail on Tuesday, low and behold, a birthday card from my dear Grandmother. And what do these yearly birthday cards (that usually comes late) contain? A check. Yep, that's right. My Grandma had productively sent my birthday present on time this year, which means I could get some new bedding!!

So here it is, thanks to my lovely Grandma!

You better jump on this sweet deal, which technically ends today!

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Story begins:

We had forgotten all about this kite Riker had gotten for his birthday, so Mitchell decided that we were going to go to Tom Brown Park to fly it. Mitchell was more excited than either me or Riker (probably because he's been cooped up in a hospital room for 15 days).

So anyway, we arrive at Tom Brown and we discover this tight Winnie-The-Pooh kite is inflatable. Pretty sweet if I do say so myself.

Mitchell was the one elected to put the kite together, and I was the picture taker (naturally).

You could tell Riker wanted to be in charge, but that's Daddy's job. So he just looked on, waiting patiently for his precious inflatable Pooh kite to be ready.

That was until Mitchell laid blown up Pooh on the ground to tie the string on...and Riker decided Pooh needed a high five? Well, whatever he was thinking, in one swift hand motion Pooh was popped.
I know, so depressing. Especially for my poor "little" Mitchy-Poo. He was so darn excited to fly that kite.

Daddy's Back!

This is about a week late, but at least it's getting posted! Mitchell got out of the hospital last Saturday! So as long as we can get through tomorrow we'll be past the dreaded 7 day mark. His stomach still hurts on and off, but people are saying that's natural. He's going back to work on Monday!!!! I'm so ready to get our life back to normal!

AND..
this little boy definitely missed his Daddy.
